Colorado springs electrical

When replacing a light socket make sure you follow safety precautions. Use the same rated socket as came with the lamp or chandelier. The power needs to be turned off or the lamp unplugged before you work on it. Cut the wires on the old socket and then strip them to be about half an inch bare. Connect old and new wires with wire caps and put in attach new socket.
Polarized plugs are made that way for a reason. It is not good to file the plug down in order to make it fit into the hole. Use things they way they are designed not what works best for you. It is a safety feature to prevent electrocution. It works the same way with three prong plugs. If there is a two prong outlet and you have a three prong cord buy an adapter, do not remove the third prong.
